A recruiter acquaintance just got canned for putting up his profile on LinkedIn. What do you think of that?
Here is what some recruiters on a private site had to say about it:
- Believe it or not I have heard of this too, at agencies. I also find it funny when people, at non-recruiting companies, tell me the execs forbid them to put a profile up. They think that if they do, they are automatically looking for a new job and can be disciplined for that. Although when I LI search those companies, the execs have profiles. Talk about chasing away your best people
- Regular issue with U.K. Recruitment firms. Say I join an agency with these views, it has been known for the hiring company asking the employee to sign over their LI profile to them; in other words they take ownership of YOUR hard earned profile. Well you can imagine what a s**tstorm that kicks up
- Damn son, I use it for advertising purposes to drive traffic to my roles. Its free and I have made mutliple hires in the past from it.
